The RioTrailer R2: A Portable Suction Powerhouse

We were pleased to recently introduce the RioTrailer R2, a portable suction unit designed for versatility and supplied as a standalone unit that can be mounted on a trailer or van chassis.

Weighing a mere 1,690kg and standing at just under 1.95 meters tall, the RioTrailer R2 is a powerhouse packed into a small footprint. Despite its size, this suction trailer boasts an impressive vacuum capacity of 425m3 per hour (7,200 litres per minute).

The R2 is engineered for a multitude of applications, including emptying flooded cellars, tackling polluted sewers, clearing septic tanks, and servicing wells. Its compact dimensions allow entry to height-restricted areas such as parking garages, enabling direct access to affected areas.

The combination of power, manoeuvrability, and compactness has made Rioned suction trailers an attractive choice for drainage companies across the UK. One such company is Basement Pumps, a specialist pump installation and servicing firm operating in London and surrounding counties.

The company’s Transport Manager, Richard Simmonds, says the acquisition of a Rioned suction trailer has proved a great success: “It’s a great bit of kit, great for easy access and the suction on the unit is excellent. To be able to get to work much closer to the source than was previously possible is a big advantage and it has certainly helped generate work as a result.”

UNDER THE HOOD

Powered by a robust 20-hp Honda air-cooled petrol engine and Jurop PNR 73 vacuum pump, the R2 is supplied equipped with 25 meters of 2.5" hose on the suction reel, with storage space built-in for additional hose lengths.

The substantial 2,100-liter thermal immersion tank is easily accessible via a fully opening rear door and includes safety features such as a siphon and double float ball in the tank to prevent dirt particles from entering the HP pump. A protective cover also shields the unit's motor and pump from dirt and weather.

The R2 features a new canopy construction to minimise noise pollution and smart storage solutions, including an open tray and lockable toolbox, provide additional space and security.

"We are thrilled to introduce the RioTrailer R2 to the UK market," said Mark Cox, Sales Director at Rioned. "This new portable suction unit builds on the success of the previous model and highlights changes in the industry as contractors increasingly seek more efficient solutions to tackle work in densely populated areas."

Rioned is thrilled to announce that its latest electric van pack jetting machine, the eFlow One, has been shortlisted for the Energy in Water category at the Water Industry Awards 2024. This recognition highlights Rioned’s contribution to sustainable operations within the water industry.

At the core of the eFlow One’s development are three LFP (lithium-iron-phosphate) batteries, offering clean power and distinct advantages over other lithium-ion types. Free from Cobalt and Nickel, LFP batteries have a significantly smaller environmental footprint, whilst offering superior heat resistance and reduced toxicity. Lasting up to 4,000 charge cycles, they also ensure long-lasting performance without concerns about deep discharge.

Designed with space efficiency in mind, the eFlow One can be installed in smaller commercial vehicles, enabling the use of compact electric vans for a complete zero-emission solution. This innovation opens the door for smaller contractors to adopt battery-powered jetting machines, significantly reducing their carbon footprint.

The eFlow One’s intuitive management system provides real-time operational data through an LED/LCD interface on both the machine and a remote handset. This includes essential information such as RPMs, pressure/flow and water levels minimising unexpected downtime.

In addition to its environmental benefits, the eFlow One offers substantial cost savings, with reduced maintenance expenses and operational efficiencies amounting to approximately £2,000 per annum.

Rioned’s Managing Director, Jan Pieters, is delighted the new machine is being recognised at the awards: “The eFlow One embodies our commitment to innovation and sustainability. This electric jetting machine delivers powerful, eco-friendly technology that is also budget-friendly. Our goal is to equip the industry with tools that promote cleaner and more efficient operations.”
