RIONED knows it’s Safety First when it comes to Personal Protective Equipment

Mom always said “safety first” when you were a kid, when a skinned knee was a painful reminder of no more skateboarding off the front steps railing! It’s still true today when using high powered jetting systems – working with high velocity water pressure without the right precautions can be disastrous. RIONED takes your safety seriously. As the European market leader in the field of drain and sewer cleaning machines and inspection systems, we manufacture the right equipment for the right job, but the rest is up to you. When using high velocity water jetting units, always wear your Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)!

We’ve looked at major dangers in drain and sewer cleaning before, but let’s take a closer look at PPE. Cleaning sewer pipes requires knowledge and safety proficiency to avoid injection accidents that can result in serious injuries or even death. High powered jetting systems can cause blindness, loss of limb or injection injuries similar to a gunshot wound. Suit up with your PPE: full face masks, waterproof jackets, pants and shoes to protect against the stream. And since corrosive substances can also back up and become airborne under water pressure, it’s not just the force of jetting that’s dangerous. Rubberized elbow length gloves with grip patterns will help to maintain control of the jetting hose, and eliminate infection to your body through cuts or scratches on your hands. On top of that at Rioned all after sales employees are always current on their tetanus booster shots, best to check the status of your shots too!

Be aware of the requirements and standards for high velocity water jetting and use the right pressure level for the job – don’t automatically crank the jetter up all the way. Skilled operators learn how much pressure is necessary for the type of clog and the pipe diameter. Less pressure reduces the risk of injury as well as causing less wear and tear on your drain cleaning machine and of course saves resources! Be a smart and safe operator – don’t take chances (and listen to Mom)!
