HD30 Portable Jetter a Breakthrough Success for Drain Doctor

For a drainage business operating in the domestic and light commercial sectors, being agile is key. Dave Knight, a Drain Doctor franchisee based in Leicester, discovered the perfect solution to meet these demands with the purchase of a Rioned HD30 portable jetting machine.

“I'm a franchised business under the Drain Doctor licence and we focus on drain and gutter cleaning” Dave explains. “We primarily deal with residential and light commercial properties and four-to-six-inch drains tend to be our bread and butter, so the convenience of having a lightweight unit in a van that you can just take out and access anywhere is a major advantage.”

Typically, Dave’s team use the HD30 for toilet blockages and clearing drains, gutters, and gullies for domestic and commercial customers. The lightweight yet powerful portable unit has proved to be exactly what was needed, offering performance and versatility in a range of situations.

The Advantages of a Portable Drain Jetter?

Dave explains that working in Leicester’s city centre can make parking difficult with a larger vehicle as it’s often hard to park near where they need to be and onboard water. Added to this, a minimum of two operatives are usually required so that one can stay with the van.

“With the HD30, it's very easy to wheel the jetter off the van and lock the van if we can’t find nearby parking near the premises,” he says. “We can leave the van and just wheel it to where we need to use it. We can then just plug into a water source directly. A kitchen or outdoor tap is enough to keep it supplied.”

“It’s a huge advantage to be able to wheel it up to a customer's property without trailing a big hose around. We’ve built the van around the unit, to make it very easy to lift on and off. We also don’t need two people to operate it and secure the area for public safety as we would with the larger jetters.”

“We’ve had it for about six months now, and initially I thought it would be quite limited in what we could use it for, but it has become the primary jetter for one of my vans. For my operator dealing with mostly domestic work featuring four-to-six-inch jobs, the HD30 is all they need.”

This agile approach has meant the business has been able to schedule more work and expand in a way that makes financial sense. With an attractive price tag and low running costs, the savings on the investment have been significant.

Choosing Rioned as an Equipment Supplier

Researching the right tool for the job can often be difficult, but Dave says he was impressed with the information available to help make a purchasing decision: “The Rioned website had very good specifications listed so I could make sure the HD30 was exactly what I needed.”

The buying process was just as straightforward. Having put in an enquiry on the website, Dave quickly received a call from sales manager Klaire Jones.

“She asked whether I wanted it delivered, and if I could accept a palette,” Dave continues. “It was with me within a couple of days! That was ideal because the business is growing, and I had an immediate need for this type of machine.”

The HD30 is powered by a Honda petrol engine providing a standard 1900psi @ 7gpm jetting capacity. With a direct water supply connection, there's no need for a separate tank, making the unit lightweight and easy to transport. The HD30 comes with two jetting nozzles and a high-pressure spray gun with a 600mm lance attachment.

Dave has been so impressed with the new machine that he took it along to the recent Drain Doctor Conference, at which Rioned were in attendance: “We brought the HD30 with us and quite a few fellow franchisees were asking me about this smaller jetter I had in the back of the van. They were very interested in its capabilities.”
