Celebration at Rioned

Today an international jury announced the winners of the Red Dot Award. The international prize for industrial design is often awarded to famous brands like BMW, Sony, Apple and Philips. This makes us extra proud to announce that Rioned has won the award for the innovative new eControl in the category ‘Industry, machinery and robotics’ and subcategory ‘Operating Technology’. The award recognition is a result of an excellent collaboration with our dedicated partners; GBO Design & GBO Projects and Venne Electronics.

Red Dot Award

The Red Dot Award is an internationally recognized award for excellent design and innovation. The competition was first held in 1954. Today, it is the most prestigious recognition for original industrial design. After we submitted the specifications and a comprehensive description of the system, we were invited to participate. In February all contenders gathered for their presentation to the jury…... and stress levels increased. When we heard we were pronounced proud winners in our category, it was time to celebrate with a big traditional Dutch “slagroom” cake!

Cooperation and process

The eControl is a result of an intense collaboration between Rioned and its innovative partners Venne Electronics from Maastricht and GBO Design & GBO Projects from Helmond. The project was started as a result of customer feedback that challenged us to come up with a userfriendly, intuitive approach to control our high-pressure sewer cleaning machines. The challenge was to find a clear way to present essential information on the machine's status in a digital manner. The project team successfully managed to develop a system that offers great customer benefits.

eControl

Apart from the honored design, it’s ease of use for our clients that matters most. The eControl now is offered as a standard feature when ordering a 7 channel remote control on a MultiJet or CityJet. Also the Rioned AquaJet now has (a slightly more simple) new control module. The AquaJet is operated by push buttons and has a build-in timer. The new eControl offers the following advantages:

• Fully IP65 rated, for protection against water
• Sustainable, industrial UV proof membrame foil
• Easy-to-use jogwheel and illuminated push buttons
• Clear sunlight readable 4,3”display with machine status information
• Clear menu structure to select all machine options
• Management information system with service-intervals and operating hours
• RioLightbar TM corona to highlight machine failures and status info for the operator
